From the Author: A completely new Sci-Fi universe I have been working on for some time now. I actually have five of them and a cool take on the zombie genre that I think you all will love. I will start making more AA stories when SC gets boring for me to write and I have to switch things up for myself. The AA universe is seriously fucked up. It is heavily influenced by Dante's Inferno, Spawn, Lovecraft, and Final Fantasy.

AA: The Doormen

"Lost" Florida, The Scorched Lands, United Nations Coalition, 12122022

If you’d told me seven years ago I would be in this situation. I would have told you, you were crazy. Not just regular crazy, but Britney Spears bald crazy times ten. Everything I thought I knew about the world changed for me, for everyone, that fateful day seven years ago. It’s funny the things you think about while shitting your pants in terror. Here I am, just feet from certain death and I’m reflecting on the anniversary of H-Day.

I should be thinking about loved ones, but no. I’m thinking about shit that could get me killed. I’m trained for this. Everyone knows these bastards are attracted to negative thoughts, so I should be either thinking about puppies or blanking out. I can’t seem to do either, all I can think about is panicking people, the damned, and torn limbs. Not exactly sunshine and rainbows. I look at the other men and they’re a picture of Zen-like focus with blank looks on their faces. One fucker even has a smile on his face. It’s pissing me off. How the hell do they do it?

“Gomez. Stop freaking out. I can see fear on your face.” His battle buddy told him in a loud whisper. “Think of something happy and do it quick.”

“I can’t. What the hell are you thinking about?” He said while peering over the wall. He could barely make out the dark silhouette slowly approaching their hiding spot. It breathed heavily and moved erratically, striking out at random with its massive hands. He closed his eyes and tried to focus on anything that would draw that monster away.

“You have to find something… anything that makes you happy. I think about my kid.”

“I think about my graduation from boot camp.” Another soldier added.

“I think about warm, wet pussy,” Yet another soldier said as all the soldiers cupped their mouths and tried hard to muff their laughter.

He couldn’t help it, he laughed and with the laughter his mind had changed. He focused on the sight of his naked girlfriend. He pictured her on his bed with her hair a tangled mess and sweat coating her body. He fumbled around his uniform and found a piece of cloth he had tied onto his Kevlar armor, he held the laced silky fabric in his hands and the picture of his girl got clearer in his head. He was no longer in the middle of the Scorched Lands, but safe with his girl on his bed. He closed his eyes as the beast still approached, he had to focus harder.

The loud breathing of the beast was the only sound that anyone could hear. As it got closer he could hear other sounds that greatly disturbed him, a human voice was calling out from the beast. “This will show them, ALL OF THEM!” The beast cried out as it lashed out smashing a wall down easily with its large hands. “BANG, BANG, BANG! DIE SUSIE! DIE JONNA! I FUCKING HATE THIS SCHOOL! BANG! BANG! BANG!” the beast continued smashing everything around itself at random. “FUCKING PIGS, THE WORLD WILL REMEMBER ME! BANG!” the beast screeched in pain and attacked itself. The sounds of tearing flesh sickened him and he tried to recapture the image of his girlfriend, but he couldn’t. “What have I done? WHAAAAAT?!” the beast asked to no one in particular.

He was trying hard to ignore the monsters pleas and instead untied the red cloth he was fingering before and put it up to his nose. Her perfume and natural smells filled his nostrils and with it filled his mind with memories of her. He missed her so much now in hell that he cried. Not of sadness, that would attract the beast, but of joy for having known her. The beast stopped moving as if confused and then fitfully moved away from them. They all kept their cool and stayed focused on keeping their thoughts pure until it was safely far enough away for them to move again. The beast suddenly leaped high into the air and smashed the ground followed by the death scream of a rat somewhere in the distance.

“Let’s move.” Sergeant Dominica told them and they crawled out of their hiding spot. “Gomez, you almost got us killed. Focus next time or you’re out of this outfit.” Dominica was born a pain in the ass, but he’s a good man and a vet from the earliest days. You know, when all hell broke loose, literally.

“Well I’ve only been in the shit for a year and things are different on the Pan-American Abyss.” He replied.
“Wait; is this your first encounter with a Suicider?” Dominica looked at him and smiled. “We popped your Class Four Demon cherry. Congrats Gomez your finally a man.”

“Yah that was my first, you guys encounter them a lot?” He asked his sergeant.

“The closer you get to doors; you’ll find the worst of the worst.” Dominica told him matter-of-factly.

“Suiciders are great,” Corporal Lance told them all as if he was stating a fact. Lance liked to talk and it annoyed him, but he was funny at times. His ‘warm, wet pussy’ suggestion actually helped, but he didn’t let Lance know that, maybe later. “Think about it. Suiciders are so fucked up that even other demons stay clear from them. Heck, the cultists are nowhere to be found without their demon masters. It just means we get past a few Suiciders by thinking about raindrops on roses. Then reach a basically unprotected door, then BAM. Home before supper even gets cold.”

“I heard it rip itself apart, how was it still alive after that?” He asked.

Father Poi rarely talked but he answered his question in the biblical way he always talked. “My child, they are the cursed of God’s children. They committed the ultimate sin, taking their own lives. They are as far from God’s love as anyone can be; there is no coming back from that. Even murderers can have a change of heart.” With this lance nodded. “They never gave themselves that chance and distorted the natural order of life. They are cursed in perpetual pain and thus lash out to everyone; even the desolate one does not want them.”

“Gomez, basically their indestructible, they can’t die.” Dominica clarified.

He watched Father Poi carefully; he didn’t wear the Kevlar armor like they did nor carried the M-16. Instead he wore a simple black robe with the symbols of his faith sewn in gold. The only weapons he carried were a long broad sword and an assortment of trinkets. Although he appeared to be weak, he was the strongest man in their unit. Holy men like Father Poi were hand selected for strength of faith, goodness of soul and mental fortitude. They went through the most rigorous training of all the soldiers in the surviving armies of humanity. It had to be that way; they were tasked with the impossible. They had to fight demons and win. They did other things like seal doors; you know rips between our world and hell. That was what we’re here for today. It was our duty to keep Father Poi alive and close that damn door before it gets any bigger. Father Poi was powerful sure, but he could not stain his soul with the sin of killing other human beings or he would become useless. The desolate one had legions of cultists and the risen damned which he used against us, soulless, evil humans and traitors to God. Men like Father Poi were very hard to come by and more were dying then being trained. So we cleaned up the filth while he worried about the dark task at hand.

No one said anything as they marched deeper into the Scorched Lands in search of this new door. He couldn’t help but think about how close he had come to dying, he started to regret volunteering to become a doorman. He did it for all the wrong reasons. He wanted to wear their black and gold dress uniform for its chick magnet capabilities and aura of invincibility that it gave off back in the “Real World.” He could never see himself settling down, especially how short and brutish life is. He smiled as he fingered some of the trophies of faith he carried with him, a nice collection of woman's panties. Trophies of faith were items that soldiers in the Scorched Lands bring along that inspire feelings of love, happiness and faith. He couldn't help it that panties would inspire those feelings in him, the other guys in the unit though he was insane for carrying them, they had with them the usual stuff like crosses, family photos, lockets and bibles.

Dominica raised his hand in a fist and they all stopped and took cover. He continued to motion with his hands in sign language, “Up ahead. Four Pedo's. Bring up the SAW.”

He grabbed the SAW from his back and raced to Dominica's position, setting up his weapon right by him. Once he was ready he nodded to Dominica who removed a small stuffed teddy bear in a sealed bag from his pack and tossed it far into the distance. Gaining the attention of the foul beasts who leapt on the toy and tore it asunder. He took aim of the small demons with his SAW and ripped them apart in one long burst. They sickened him. They had infant-like faces and features, but they were twisted versions of them. These beasts had grotesque long arms and short stumpy legs. Their charred black skin seemed to drip off of them like pudding and they gave off a demonic cry that almost sounded like a baby choking. These things were attracted to innocence and especially children. The Pedo's were cowardly around adults and would run away most of the times, but if they sensed a child around they would go into a frenzy. Tearing through anything and everything to get to the child. They always moved in packs and were able to detect even the most miniscule trace of a child. So many children died to these things when the first doors opened. So many that the surviving children were rounded up and kept deep within the secured zones in heavily fortified camps. The entire next generation of mankind was almost nearly wiped out.

“Good shot Gomez. Clean and efficient. Let's move.” Dominica said as he lifted himself from his position and moved towards the end of the ridge. Gomez followed him and they both looked down with their binoculars and saw the door. It was the size of a two story building. The tear in dimensions looked like a swirling vortex of blood and fire. Surrounding the vortex was a small army of cultists in their black robes and assault rifles. A few were having intercourse on a stone slab covered in blood. Just to the right of the slab were the dismembered bodies of a few unfortunate souls who were sacrificed to their demon gods.

“I didn't think skull fucking was even possible, but these sick bastards just proved me wrong.” Lance said in disgust.

“Okay Pio. I see thirty-four cultists all lightly armed. AK's mostly. No demons around and the patch they're wearing says their from the Army of Sheol. Looks like the gate is coming from the second circle of hell.” Dominica said.

Gomez nodded. He'd been on the field for only a few months, but he quickly learned that hell is deeply divided and at war with itself. He's already encountered eight different armies and they say there are about twelve of them. It's why everyone thinks this apocalypse was accidental. That it happened before its time. The bible said the demons would easily crush all of mankind, and they still could, but they didn't. They fought with each other as much as they fought with the survivors of H-Day. Plus God and his angels were nowhere to be seen if they even existed, but seeing the gate to hell below there has to be a heaven.

“I am ready my child.” Pio said smiling.

“Doormen 254, we ready?” Dominica shouted.

“To Hell! To Hell!” They all shouted and started shooting at the cultists below. Dropping them all in a hail of bullets. The cultists having sex on the slab didn't even stop until the bullets of the Doormen ripped them apart.

“Alright let's shut this shit!” Dominica screamed as they climbed over the ridge and down to the open door.
